Steeped in local history, Hotel Can Sastre in Menorca is a complete restoration designed and project managed by Alberto Cortes and KsaR Living. Set within in a 17 th century Ciutadella home that housed the famous pasteleria (bakery), La Sin Nombre, for over a century, Alberto and his team have honoured the building’s heritage throughout the new 13-suite luxury boutique hotel.
The design brief was carte blanche and the run-down property was transformed from the ground up, with almost everything custom made for the hotel. Bespoke cement tiles were designed for each space, in patterns and colours that complement the timeless architecture, chic interior design and patterned soft furnishings. Designer lighting, deep-soak tubs and contemporary art bring an elegant touch of modernity to each suite.
Unique touches include the restoration of the bakery’s original counter, which now serves as the reception desk, in addition to refurbished mid-century sofas and chairs found in the attic that now take pride of place in the restaurant and living areas. From the initial concept all the way through to the uniforms worn by Hotel Can Sastre staff and the plates, cutlery and glasses used in daily service, absolutely everything has the KsaR Living touch.
